About James Newman, MD, FACS:
Education:
James Newman, MD graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University before entering medical school at the University of Texas on an academic scholarship. While in medical school he received the Jimmy Dickinson Award recognizing the top student in anatomy and went on to receive Honors Recognition in Surgery. He graduated in the top of his class and received the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha award.
Background:
After receiving his MD degree, Dr. Newman went on to complete his internship and residency in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at Stanford University. Dr. Newman published several scientific papers in plastic surgery and laser cosmetic surgery. He continued his clinical interest in laser and cosmetic surgery and completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford where he also joined the Faculty. He is board certified by the
American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the
American Board of Otolaryngology . Because of his specialized interest and desire to give personalized care, he created a private practice in the Bay Area.

Training In Laser Procedures:
With the expansion of lasers in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Newman completed an additional fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery with a special emphasis on laser surgery. At the Center For Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Newman uses Carbon Dioxide, Erbium, KTP, Diode, and YAG lasers to treat a broad spectrum of conditions. In addition, Dr. Newman uses lasers to perform common operations such as facelifts and eyelid surgery.
Professional Activities:
In addition to serving on the clinical faculty at Stanford, he serves as a specialized consultant to the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital and the Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara. Dr. Newman lectures on the latest developments in Facial Plastic Surgery annually and holds several advisory board positions with institutions developing new technology for plastic surgery. While he performs a large number of surgical cases at the Center for Facial Plastic Surgery Center in San Mateo, he is on staff at Mills-Peninsula, El Camino and Stanford University Hospitals.

Our office and surgical center are located in the modern Mills Medical Arts building with convenient covered parking. Our operating room and recovery room is outfitted with the newest and most state-of-the-art anesthesia monitors. It is a fully accredited facility with its own back up power generators and meets the same standards of an operating suite located within a hospital. We utilize the most up to date medications to maximize comfort and minimize any post procedure discomfort. Our facility has one of the lowest incidences of post procedure discomfort / nausea in California.
For surgery, Dr. Newman utilizes endoscopes and the most specialized hand crafted instruments made specifically for his needs. Our surgical facility is adjoined to Mills Health Center so that any needed emergency services or facilities are immediately available. |
