About Dr. Juris Bunkis, M.D.

Juris Bunkis, M.D. is an innovative plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. Dr. Bunkis had a large private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years. In 2002, Dr. Bunkis followed his family to Coto de Caza and relocated his 5-Star practice to South Orange County. Dr. Bunkis has served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine.

Upon graduating from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1974, Dr. Bunkis completed a general surgery residency at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Columbia University in New York and the Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard University in Boston. This was followed by board certification in general surgery. He subsequently returned to Harvard University to complete a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

In 1981, he joined the plastic surgery faculty at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine. Dr. Bunkis is a diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Bunkis served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at the San Francisco General Hospital. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, among them the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Research Council, and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has lectured and presented scientific papers throughout North America and Europe. Dr. Bunkis has published a wide range of scientific articles and has also contributed chapters to various medical textbooks on the subject of plastic surgery.

Dr. Bunkis has operated on indigent children in Central America for many years. In 1995, in recognition of his volunteer efforts, Dr. Bunkis was knighted by the Cavelieri Di San Marco (Knights of St. Marc) in Venice, Italy. He served on the Board of Directors of the Hospital de la Familia Foundation as well as the Tassajara Valley Little League and the Nor Cal Baseball Club. In 2000, he received the Angel Wings Award for his philanthropic work. And in 2001, a full feature film Dr. Bunkis helped produce won the Silver Medal at the Houston Film Festival.

With his years of experience and artistic touch, Dr. Bunkis brings to his patients a knowledge and expertise in aesthetic surgery that makes him a leader in the field.

Colette McPheePractice Administrator & Patient Counselor

Colette joined our team in 2002. As Administrator, Colette manages our office as well as being our Patient Counselor. Colette will work closely with you before and after your procedures and is always available for questions or concerns. After Dr. Bunkis or Dr. Seify complete your consultation, Colette will review options, fees, help arrange financing, schedule procedures and arrange post-operative care. Colette is dedicated in helping our patients reach their desired results.

Anne Floerchinger  Medical Aesthetician

Anne specializes in advanced anti aging skin care treatments using the latest technology and products. Anne brings a wealthy of knowledge with forty years experience in the U.S. and England and has served on a skin care committee for the state of Indiana. She has also been recognized by the American Cancer Society for organizing “Look Good Feel Better” programs in two Indiana hospitals. Anne is also a member of Society of Plastic Surgeons Skin Care Specialists.

Maya Adams  Medical Aesthetician

Maya has spent her entire career in the aesthetics field working alongside Orange County’s most reputable plastic and reconstructive surgeons. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the industry’s most advanced skin care procedures and other cutting edge rejuvenating treatments. Maya specializes in pre and post surgical care and has been recognized for her work with teens and young adults.

Gerrie Glossip, R.N.  Office Nurse

Gerrie started with OCPS as the Registered Nurse and has many years of aesthetic experience in dermatology and plastic surgery. She performs many procedures including IPL, IPL with Levulonic Acid, Vascular treatments, Laser Hair Removal, Chemical Peels, Botox and Restylane injections. Gerrie is excellent in educating our patients on their surgical procedures as well as their post operative care.

Gerrie is available at all times to assist and answer questions our patients may have regarding their procedures.

Deborah Palermo Front Office Supervisor

Deborah has been part of our team since 2003. She brings many years of experience in office management and is our front office supervisor. Deborah’s warm and caring personality is evident to everyone who meets her. She understands how important is to answer all of our patient's questions and to make them feel welcome.

Caroll Chronister Front Office Coordinator

Caroll joined our team in early 2004 as Front Office Coordinator. She is also our coordinator for the Mentor and Inamed breast implant, study programs. Her friendly personality, organizational skills, and attention to detail make her an asset to our team. Caroll places a high priority on our patients’ needs and concerns, and strives to provide the best in personalized patient care.

Marti Roberson Patient Counselor/Front Office Coordinator

Marti is our Patient Counselor and Front Office Coordinator. She is well versed in all procedures and will assist you with any questions you may have. Marti will give you personal attention when scheduling your consultation and procedure and will review options fees and financing. Marti’s role is to make certain that you emerge from Orange County Plastic Surgery a happy and satisfied patient.

Rachel Sanford  Financial Director

Rachel is the financial director and bookkeeper for the practice She also functions as the liaison person for the practice with many of our outside vendors and contract professionals.

Tina Haworth  Practice Coordinator/Marketing Director

Tina has been with Orange County Plastic Surgery since its inception, assisting in choosing the location, the design and decorating of the office. She functions as the Practice Coordinator and is the marketing director. Tina also coordinates the doctors’ schedules for seminars and presentations at service organizations or other groups seeking a speaker for a special event. Tina assists in patient education, particularly those seeking facial rejuvenation.

BODY CONTOURING / POST BARIATRIC SURGERY
(Post Massive Weight Loss Reconstruction)

INTRODUCTION: The areas which we can address with plastic surgery are the neck and face, breasts, inner arms, abdomen and back of trunk, hips, thighs and buttocks. As mentioned above, facial skin tightening, breast surgery and a straight forward abdominoplasty are covered elsewhere.

Here, we will focus on procedures designed to improve the inner arms, posterior trunk, hips, thighs and buttocks.

In all of these areas, the problem is an excessive amount of skin. It must be stressed that some skin laxity in these areas is absolutely normal. Every patient over the age of 20 will have some skin laxity in these areas, and the only time they should be addressed surgically is if the amount of skin laxity is much more than average, and if the degree of correction to be achieved can be justified by the resultant scarring. Procedures such as liposuction, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, eyelid surgery and a face lift most frequently do not leave any visible scars. Body contouring procedures, on the other hand, ALWAYS leave a long and wide scar – each patient will have to decide for themselves if the improvement in the skin laxity will be justified by the resultant scars, cost and risks of surgery.
